Marie Kleindienst, 84, of Jefferson City passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 surrounded by her family at The Arbors at Westbrook Terrace.

She was born October 31, 1939 in Rich Fountain to the late Leo and Pauline (Luebbert) Finke.  In 1957, Marie was a member of the first graduating class of Helias High School.  In her early years, she was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell.  Marie later became the bookkeeper at St. Martin Catholic Church retiring after thirty years of service.

To say Marie was an active member at church is an understatement.  For years she served on the Picnic Committee, extremely active organizer for the CYO program, preparing and serving countless funeral  meals and  volunteering wherever  there was a need.  A woman who always kept busy, you might have found her cross stitching baby blankets or tending to her garden or canning vegetables.  She loved the challenge of solving a good jigsaw puzzle or winning at Hand & Foot card game.  Marie enjoyed dancing  and always looked forward in cheering  on her Kansas City Chiefs.

Survivors include her three children;  Marsha (Ralph) Calhoun of Shalimar, FL, John (Kim) Kleindienst of Jefferson City, Jim (Angie) Kleindienst of Rocky Mount, seven grandchildren;  Katie Crowell, Sarah Galigher, Josh Lage, Cole Kleindienst, Kevin Kleindienst, Grant (Kara) Kleindienst and Austin (Megan) Kleindienst, five great grandchildren;  Lauren, Hayden, Eli, Harlan and Braylon and her sister;  Sharon (Dave) Talken of Centertown.  Marie was preceded in death by her son, Dan.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church, 7148 St. Martin’s Blvd, Jefferson City.  The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jason Doke officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable contributions in memory of Marie be made to Brain Support Network, PO Box 7264, Menlo Park, CA 94026, www.brainsupportnetwork.org
