Seth McKinney

January 17, 2006 — September 4, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Seth Ellis Ray McKinney, of Jefferson City, MO, a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, boyfriend, and friend, who left us far too soon on September 4, 2024, at the age of 18.

Born on January 17, 2006, in Jefferson City, Seth lived his life with a spirit of adventure and a deep love for the outdoors. He was happiest when hunting and fishing, passions he shared with his family and friends. Seth also loved basketball and was always up for a game of poker, though his competitive nature made him notorious for being a sore loser.

Seth is survived by his parents, Amy and Willie Bruce of Jefferson City, MO, and his siblings, RayLynn Bruce, Bradarious Lewis, Victoria Fletcher, Delajuwon Bruce, Isaac Bruce, Kayana Bruce, Kristopher Bruce and Hannah McKinney, who will forever cherish the memories they shared. He is also survived by his loving grandparents, Rick and Cindy Hilkemeyer of Freeburg, MO, and Marsha Finger of St. Louis, MO. His aunts and uncles, Amanda Rowden (Jaelyn) of Jefferson City, MO, Alyssa Jenkins (Kyle) of Westphalia, MO, Billie Bruce (Loren) of Jefferson City, MO, Aaron McKinney, and Fallon Loehner (Clinton) will always remember his light and love. Seth also leaves behind his girlfriend, Ahkea Williams, who brought him immense happiness and shared many special moments with him. Seth leaves behind his cousins, extended family, and countless friends, all of whom shared in his laughter, love, and joy for life. His absence will be deeply felt by everyone whose lives he touched.

Seth is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jimmie Rowden, Dave McKinney and Keith Finger; his Aunts Carrie Leuschen-Rowden, Stephanie Rowden and Gwendolyn Bruce; and his beloved great-grandparents, who now hold him in their care.

Seth’s energy, infectious smile, love for life, and unique sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on through the countless memories he created with those he loved.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until Noon on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Trimble Funeral Homes-Westphalia. A celebration of Seth’s life will take place at Noon with Reverend David Newton officiating. Burial will be in Stokes Cemetery, Meta.
