Jane Ann Brooks, 75, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020, at her residence.

She was born April 8, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of the late Herman and Margaret Wright Drury.

She was united in marriage on September 1, 1973, in Olney, Illinois to Edwin Dean Brooks who preceded her in death on January 5, 2003.

Jane worked for over 30 years at the Jefferson City Walmart as a switchboard operator. She also was a loving homemaker and babysitter. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping and watching MU basketball. She enjoyed lunches and time spent with her best girlfriends. Her greatest moments were when she was with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two children, Anthony (Carey) Brooks, Jefferson City; Mark (Christy) Brooks, Jefferson City; and five grandchildren, AJ Brooks, Brett Brooks, Nicholas Brooks, Carter Brooks, and Kendall Brooks.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin Brooks; and a brother, Doug Drury.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2020, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Riverview Cemetery with the Rev. Louis Nelen officiating.

The general public is welcome to attend the services while following social distancing guidelines. Facial coverings are encouraged while in attendance.

Memorials are suggested to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter.

Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  4. My hubby worked with Dean at the Missouri Tourism for many years we knew them a long time. I was working at Wal mart in the Demo Dept and had asked JANE to come and work for me so she did,not knowing she would stay for around 30 years and not take retirement from there and enjoy her money and enjoy the life of retirement. so sorry to hear this, we can’t question the reason God took her home. God Bless her family and thoughts and prayers are with the family.

  17. Tony, Mark, and their families…I am so very sorry to learn of Janie’s passing. She was a wonderful lady and so kind and patient with everyone, especially the children in our neighborhood. In fact, she was our “neighborhood watch patrol” before we had one. Never did I see her in Wal-Mart that she did not have a smile on her face and a warm greeting to share. Janie always remembered our adult children and would ask about them. She was a lovely lady, and she will be missed!

  19. Mark and Tony, Janie was one of my first friends in Jefferson City after we moved here. We went through two pregnancies together, both around the same time. We spent our first few years on the telephone together. This morning, when I told our daughters that Janie had passed, Natalie replied, “she was your telephone wife!”Funny, I wish I could tell Janie this story. This year Covid stopped our “Old Timers” night out and I never imagined that I would not see her again, I will miss her dearly She loved you two and adored her grandchildren, I hope these memories help you get through the sadness you have now.   24. She worked with my dad at walmart for years. When I was a little kid she would always cmnt on my afro puffs my mom put in my hair and tell me how pretty they were. She never changed from 10 years old to 25 anytime she saw me she would always speak. May God rest her soul ߙϰߏ¾

  26. To the Brooks family. I have lived two houses down from Ms Janie since 1985. She was always a sweet lady. My daughter and I always looked for her when we went to Wal-Mart. Ms Janie was a great neighbor and she will be missed.
