Frederick Frank Henke, 87, of Taos, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at Westphalia Hills.
He was born January 27, 1930, in Taos, Missouri, the son of the late Frank and Lidvina (Rackers) Henke.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict.
Fred was united in marriage on September 1, 1952, in Taos, to Mary Jane Grothoff who survives.
Fred worked as a supervisor for numerous Manufacturing Companies such as McGraw Edison, Shopsmith, Communications Accessories in Kansas City, and for the Jefferson City Correctional Center for 7 years retiring in 1992.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a Lifetime member of The Taos Knights of Columbus. He served on the Parish Counsel, Legion of Mary, volunteered for many organizations such as the Taos Senior Citizens Home, Samaritan Center and donated much of his time volunteering within the church.
Fred enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing horseshoes, coaching his sons baseball teams and going to the Isle of Capri and gambling with the other Fred Henke. Fred and Mary Jane spent many hours sitting together watching the St. Louis Cardinals, EWTN and Family Feud.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Mary Jane, Taos; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Tom LeComte, Taos; JoAnn and Howard Pointer, Taos; Valerie and Wes Lang, Jefferson City; five sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Diane Henke, Rolla; Tom and Kathy Henke, Taos; Greg and Laura Henke, Taos; Keith and Mary Jo Henke, Taos; Kevin Henke, Jefferson City; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister Alice Lammers, Jefferson City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son James Henke; two daughters, Jane Henke and Mary Ann Henke; three sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Ann (Henry) Lammers; Evelyn Higgins, Alberta (Morton) Ratliff; one brother and sister-in-law, Bernard (Ruth) Henke.
Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 3, 2018, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. in the church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday January 4, 2018, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Taos with the Rev. Gregory Meystrik officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Church or St. Francis Xavier School.
