Walter Louis Mahaney, 64 of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017, at his residence.
He was born March 4, 1953, in Montgomery City, Missouri, the son of the late Robert Wesley and Flora Lee (Britt) Mahaney.
Walter attended Lincoln University and earned his Journeyman Brick Layer certificate.
Walter worked for the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant and for Longhorn Steakhouse for ten years retiring in 2015.
He was a member of St. John White Chapel Baptist Church in Montgomery City. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing chess, watching sports, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include ten children, Joe Lewis Griffin, Jefferson City; Telly Griffin, Springfield, MO; Glenda Simms, Louisville, KY; Mark Mahaney, St. Louis; Phillip Eldridge, Des Moines, Iowa; Ashley Logan, Jefferson City; Kristina Kleinheider, Jefferson City; Michelle Kleinheider, Corpus Christi, TX; Angela Smuda, Springfield, MO; Erica Eldridge, Nashville, TN; eight siblings, Robert (Barb) Mahaney, Sr., Columbia; Wilbur Britt, Jefferson City; Gilbert (Debbie) Mahaney, San Diego, CA; Rev. James (Vanessa) Mahaney, Sr., Holts Summit; Leana Mahaney, Jefferson City; Stephanie Mahaney, Jefferson City; Rhonda Clark, Columbia; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and other extended family members including nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Blonnie Parker, his twin sister Wanda Smith, Roberta Washington, and Joyce Clark; and a brother, Vernie Britt.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 12 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. James P. Mahaney, Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in Longview Cemetery.
