Jerold Lynn Eggen, 56, of St. Thomas, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017, at his residence. He was born March 19, 1961, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Paul and Janet (Phillips) Eggen. He was united in marriage on April 30, 1983, in St. Thomas to Maureen Ann Backes who survives at the home. Jerold began working for the Jefferson City Country Club as a cook. After his marriage, he began working for Central Dairy as a machine operator until his retirement. Jerold was a fix-it-man working on engines and small machines. He also enjoyed small carpentry jobs, yard working, planting trees around his home, and rock n roll music. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandson, Oscar. Survivors include his wife, Maureen Eggen, St. Thomas; Joseph Eggen (Sasha Guo), Olney, Maryland; David Eggen, St. Thomas; Lucas Eggen, St. Thomas; one grandson, Oscar Eggen; one brother, Jerome (Cindy) Eggen, Jefferson City; two brothers-in-law, Tom (Carol) Backes, St. Thomas; Tim (Karen) Backes, Honey Creek; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday June 14, 2017, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas. Burial will be in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave. Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814.   5. I am so sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort described in 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 provide comfort for your family. Losing a loved one in death is never easy, but the Bible reassures us in Isaiah 25:8 that soon death will be no more. What a wonderful time that will be for all of us.
