Viola Adelia Volmert, 84, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Westphalia Hills in Westphalia, Missouri. She was born September 16, 1932, in St. Thomas, Missouri, the daughter of the late Vincent and Catherine (Schulte) Loethen. She was united in marriage on November 26, 1955, in St. Thomas, to Leander Anthony Curly Volmert who preceded her in death on October 10, 2004. Viola was a homemaker for several years while raising her children. She also worked for A.B. Chance in Centralia, St. Peter Catholic School cafeteria, and as a computer operator for the Public School Retirement System of Missouri for over 19 years. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Ladies Sodality, Daughters of Isabella, and the St. Gerard Card Club. She was a girl scout leader in her younger years. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, playing cards, camping, traveling, caring for other people, and above all spending time with her family and grandchildren. Survivors include four children, Brenda Wilson, Jefferson City; Paula (John) Wilbers, Wardsville; Gary (Jeanene) Volmert, Clever, MO; Russell (Barbara) Volmert, Washington, MO; one son-in-law, Gary Harris, Kansas City; 15 grandchildren, Jesse Wilson, Emily (Matt) Kliethermes, Tyler Harris, Megan Harris, Cameron Harris, Ashton (Tyler) Frank, Calvin Wilbers, Blake Wilbers, Mason Volmert, Shelby Volmert, Peter Volmert, Isabella Volmert, John Paul Volmert, Joseph Volmert, George Volmert; two great-granddaughters, Ellie Kliethermes, Linley Kliethermes; three siblings, Celestine Stegeman, Jefferson City; Joan Poettgen, Edgerton, WI; Rosella Reinkemeyer, St. Thomas; one sister-in-law, Imogene Volmert, St. Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Marla Harris; and a brother, Delmer Loethen. Visitation will be 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday, May 7th, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 8th, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. I.C. Medina officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.   4. I had the privilege of working with Viola for several years at PSRS. She taught me how to play pinnacle. She was one of the most caring, loving people I ever met. She definitely left an imprint on my heart. I am so very sorry for your loss and pray for comfort and healing for all her family.

  5. Viola was one of the sweetest people I have ever known. When we worked together at Public School Retirement System she always had a smile on her face. She was a very special person and her family will be in my prayers.
