She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at Wardsville, and the Ladies Sodality. Lois was a lifelong devout Catholic, attended daily mass, and enjoyed her prayer group. Her great joy was her family, especially the annual family gatherings that she and Adolph began 35 years ago. As a young woman Lois taught for two years at Sanning School, a one-room school at Mary's Home. She was active in 4-H clubs in Mary's Home and Wardsville, and was a classroom volunteer at St. Stanislaus School. Lois was a quilter, and made many beautiful quilts for her family and for the church picnics. Genealogy and family connections were important to her. Surviving are five daughters, Jean Pingenot (Duwain) of Plano, TX, Alice Berendzen (partner Christopher Fromkin) of North Wales, PA, Judy Lynch (Dick) of Cape Cod MA, Linda Duckworth (Charlie) and Lori Bruckner (Dan) of Omaha, NE; four sons, Samuel Berendzen of Kirksville, Paul Berendzen (Ann) of Wardsville, Joseph Berendzen (Linda) of Columbia, S.C., Steve Berendzen (Tanda) of Fairbanks AK; 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. 1. What a wonderful lady. Her faith in Jesus will be rewarded! My sympathy and prayers to all in the family. Sending love and prayers, Dotty Sanning(daughter of Albert Sanning son of Anton Sanning). The family reunions always brought us together!

  2. Lois was a joyful soul and an example to all she encountered by extending great kindness from her heart! I will be forever grateful for having her in my life. My deepest sympathies to all her loved ones. God Bless, Jennie (Schwaller) Cronkhite

  3. So sorry to hear about Aunt Lois. She will be missed by many, but she will be greeted by so many loved ones. -Love The Campbell family

  4. My sincere condolences to the family of Lois Berendzen. Lois contacted me several years ago to inquire whether her son, Capt. Gary William Berendzen, qualified to be included among those honored on the Freedom Memorial at Cole R-V High School at Eugene. Captain Berendzen, USAF, was killed November 10, 1964 in the crash of his B-52 bomber in rural Montana while serving his Country in the defense of freedom. It was quickly determined that Gary did indeed qualify and Lois and her family attending the Memorial’s dedication November 10, 2006, exactly 42 years after his passing. Thanks to his mother, Gary’s memory and sacrifice will be commemorated for a very long time. With God’s grace they have been reunited.

  6. So sorry to learn this news today, but know she has joined her family in heaven. Lots of warm memories of family gatherings while growing up. Hugs and prayers to my cousins, Cathy Frank Larabee

  7. Dear Berendzen “clan”, we want to pass along our condolences about your mother’s passing, but what a wonderful, full life. I am extremely disappointed that I didn’t see the obituary notice until the day after the funeral, but want all of you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. For Jean and Alice particularly, I would have loved to have seen you again during your mother’s visitation and catch up a little on the last 60 yrs. Walt and Libby Shull

  8. So many memories of a hospitable lady, matriarch of a good family! Besides knowing Sam and Barb from their Memphis days, I gave Lori some organ lessons, (right:?), and later worked together at St. Peter’s.
