William James "Bill" McCandless, 75, of Jefferson City, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at his residence.
Bill was born the oldest son of James Jackson and Beatrice Amber (Snyder) McCandless on September 3, 1940, in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania.
Bill received the Lord as his personal Savior in Waynesville, Missouri, on August 17, 1986.
He was married on Peggy Jean Ballard on January 5, 1981, in Waynesville, Missouri.
Bill served in the United State Army from April 1960 to November 1981. He received numerous awards and decorations for his honorable service to his country. During his service he was a veteran of the Vietnam Ear and became a disabled veteran.
From 1983-1993 he was employed as an independent insurance representative of several insurance companies where he received numerous awards for his performance. Before he retired due to health reasons, he worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer.
He enjoyed all types of sports and flower gardening. Bill was a true leader who never ask anything from other except the Lord in prayer. Those who were close to Bill would not hesitate to follow him.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy McCandless, Jefferson City; a brother, Eugene McCandless, Slippery Rock, PA; a sister, Darlene Winger, Poqroson, PA; many aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Shirley Weitzel.
