Martha L. Duemmel, 71, of Holts Summit, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born August 2, 1944, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Lou (Backes) Vogel. She was united in marriage on September 25, 1965, in Chamois, Missouri to Charles D. "Chuck" Duemmel who survives at the home. Martha worked as an administrative assistant for the Missouri Highway Department, Missouri State Legislature, Jefferson City Catholic Diocese, and the Department of Mental Health. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph where she volunteered with funeral luncheons and the Church Bazaars. She also volunteered for St. Mary's Hospital and made gifts for other cancer patients. Martha enjoyed fishing, sewing, traveling, gardening, playing cards, scrap booking, and spending time with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Chuck Duemmel, Holts Summit; four children, Dale (Traci) Duemmel, Holts Summit; Stephanie Duemmel, Dallas, TX; Corey (Brenda) Duemmel, St. Elizabeth; Heath (Jamie) Duemmel, Holts Summit; nine grandchildren, Brandon Duemmel, Colton Duemmel, Blair (Dustin) Schanzmeyer, Morgan Wilde, Regan Wilde, Charlize Duemmel, Jace Duemmel, Deaven Duemmel, Daemen Duemmel; and six siblings, Vivian (Larry) Boss, Chamois; Dolores Scheuler, Jefferson City; Genie (Gilbert) Bisges, Wardsville; Judy (Joe) Birk, Lohman; Kay (Jerry) Bondurant, Jefferson City; and Mike (Edna) Vogel, Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers-in-law, Lester "Shorty" Trachsel and Ronnie Scheuler. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki and the Rev. Christopher M. Aubuchon officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Compassus, 600 Monroe St., Suite 100, Jefferson City, MO 65101; or to the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 2305 West Main St., Jefferson City, MO 65109.
