Kevin Gerard Lock, 57, of Jefferson City, died Monday, October 20, 2014, at University Hospital in Columbia, Mo after a lengthy illness. He was born September 24, 1957, in Jefferson City to Terence and Angeline (Heislen) Lock. Kevin was a graduate of both Helias High School and Lincoln University. He was united in marriage on April 23, 1988, in Columbia, Missouri to Paulette Rutz who still survives. Kevin worked in his earlier years for Gerbes and later was a probation officer with Missouri Probation and Parole. For over 20 years, Kevin worked as a claims adjuster for Shelter Insurance. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Holy Name Society. Kevin enjoyed volunteering for the Missouri Conservation Stream Team, fishing, kayaking, golfing, softball, and gambling. He especially looked forward to yearly family vacations to St. George Island, FL. But most of all Kevin loved his family and friends. His humor and wit constantly brought laughter to any gathering. In addition to his wife, Paulette, Kevin is survived by his son, Alex Lock, of the home; his mother, Angeline Lock, three siblings, Chris Lock (Alan Sims), Mary (Clinton) Flowers, Germaine (Mike) Haymart, and one sister-in-law, Anne Lock, all of Jefferson City. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews as well as 8 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Terence Lock; and his brother, Kelly Lock. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. David D. Cox officiating and the Rev. Anthony Viviano concelebrating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Helias Catholic High School, 1305 Swifts Highway, Jefferson City, MO 65109; Jefferson City Parks and Recreation Foundation, 427 Monroe Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101 or the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation-Stream Team Program, P.O.   1. My sincere condolences to the family for Kevin’s passing. I have many fond memories of times spent working with Kevin and his sisters at Gerbes many years ago. I have considered Kevin as one of my work family members along with Chris, Mary and “Pinky”. May he be at peace wuth our Lord Jesus Christ.
