I remember starting out as an athletic trainer and hearing Pat talk about the governmental side of athletic training and how passionate he was about trying to make our profession better. I know he has helped get many bills started and through legislation to make it happen. I really appreciate the kindness Pat always showed me when we visited. He will be greatly missed by the Bearcat family.
With deepest condolences,
James Oyler

Laura.. Want you to know that I will be there to assist you and share your sadness and sorrow. Dang I will miss my telephone visits with telephone visits with Pat. See you real soon
I will be out of town for Pat’s service but our entire family is praying that you and Jay find comfort. I know Pat has finally found true joy and peace in his afterlife with Christ, but it’s those of us that are left behind that I worry about. We are here for you in anyway that you need. You were a major force in the developing lives of our daughters and we want to be able to give back whatever you need at this time. Just call or email Mark or I. May God Bless and be with you and Jay.
On behalf of the Mid-America Athletic Trainers’ Association I wanted to let you now how sorry we were to hear about Pat. Few of our colleagues have done more to advance our association. We will celebrate his gifts to us always. Peace and Grace to you and your family.
Pat was always a go to guy. If I had a problem, call Pat, he will at least have a good opinion. You will be missed Pat Forbis.
On behalf of the Board of Certification, please know that thoughts and prayers are with Pat’s family during this difficult time. We appreciate Pat’s efforts and commitment to state regulation. -Shannon Leftwich
Laura and Jay, I am so sorry for your devastating loss. Pat was a great man and will truly be missed. My prayers go out to you, his family, friends and the many lives he touched over the years.
Laura, prayers from my whole family to you and Jay on the shocking loss of Pat. May God bring you comfort in this terrible time, and may Pat rest in the arms of the Lord.
Please accept my sincere wishes that God will provide the strength to make it though the loss of Pat. May your grief become easier as memories of this wonderful man come to mind each day. Bless you all.
Holding you close in prayer. Our condolences and, as always, all our love.
An old proverb(are there any new proverbs?) says that misfortune also can bring an opportunity. I suffered a major injury, which was bad, but my sports therapist was Pat, which was very, very good! A few years later down the road when our son, Curt, also had a significant sports injury, there was no question that we wanted Pat to be in charge of his recovery. Pat’s professional brilliance was equaled by a heart big enough to care about every single person he contacted every single day. There was none better. We will miss you, my friend. Mick Byrd
My condolensces to Pat’s family. While I haven’t spoken with him in many years, Pat was instrumental in giving me advice as a young athletic trainer while at Mizzou and living in Jeff City. Outstanding example to young athletic trainers in our profession, he will be missed.

Laura, my condolences to you and your family. Wishing you peace to bring you comfort, courage to face the days ahead and memories to hold in your heart.
Laura, I enjoyed the video and getting to see all the sides of Pat! I’m glad I got to meet him at UCM’s homecoming a few years ago as well. I could tell from meeting him and everything you said about him over the years that he was a really great guy who loved you and Jay and took good care of you both. I am so sorry for the loss of your husband and father. Peace and Blessings, Kelly Edmondson

Pat Forbis, Sr. is a good friend of mine, and worked with me and three others on a two-volume history of the Bryan family. My ancestor, Morgan Bryan, Jr., married Mary Forbis, daughter of
George Forbis and brother of Robert Forbis, from whom Pat descends. The lost of Pat Sr’s son was devastating. My wife and I lost our youngest daughter so Pat and I can relate in more than one way. I wish I had known and met Pat Sr’s son, but I did meet the grandson, J. Pat, at a Boone Reunion in Lexington, KY in 2008. The man described in this obituary is a man of great accomplishment, who lived a life of worthiness and service to others. God bless all the Forbis family.
