jeanette neuner
Jeanette (Heislen) Neuner died peacefully on July 13, 2013, at Oak Tree Villas. She was 91 years old. Beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and great-aunt, she was born January 25, 1922, the youngest of four daughters to Christine (Rackers) and Peter Heislen. She lived her entire life in Jefferson City and was a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she was married September 17, 1945, to her best friend, Ted Neuner; together, they had six children. While she devoted most of her life to her family, she also worked for 13 years as an administrative secretary in the Nursing Service Division at St. Mary's Health Center until her retirement in 1988, and for the Missouri Department of Agriculture before her marriage. She was a long-time member of the Immaculata Club-Loretto Chapter, St. Ann's Sodality, Daughters of Isabella and St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, and volunteered for Birthright and Missouri River Home Health Care and Hospice. She was known among family and friends for her wonderful cooking and her welcoming spirit. Her favorite times were spent with family gathered around her dining room table for meals or canasta games. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Catherine Heislen and Ruby (Clarence) Perrey; her husband Ted and his parents, Elizabeth (Lueckenhoff) and Ted Neuner, his brother Henry, and his sisters Loretta, Irene, Mary Ann and Erma (Linus) Hasenbeck. She is survived by her sister Angeline (Terence) Lock; sister-in-law Marge (Bill) Bose; children Janice Neuner of Sumter, S.C.; Richard (Laura Kinkead) Neuner of Minneapolis; Barbara (Bob) Paynter of Cleveland; Carol (Joe) Metz of Cincinnati; Jim (Gina) Neuner and Laura (Pat) Forbis of Jefferson City; 14 grandchildren: Michael, Catherine and Ben Neuner; Ted (Lisa), Jacob (Stephanie), Gabriel and Sam Paynter; Elizabeth, Anni and Pete (Becca) Metz; Jacquelyn, Madelyn and Kassidy Neuner; and James Forbis; and four great-grandchildren (with another to be born soon); as well as many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Oak Tree Villas, SSM Hospice of Mid-Missouri and Dr. George Carr for their compassionate care during her illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. David D. Cox officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Church, 1206 East McCarty Street, Jefferson City, Mo 65109; Birthright 1006 E. 16. Carol, I was so sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. I lost mine 28 years ago and I know it’s hard at any age.

  17. Ted and Jeanette were a blessing to us. Bev and I enjoyed their company so many times. Always welcomed, always entertaining, always full of joy and happiness. Never a moment when they did not have a kind word or an open door. Come on in, sit awhile and lets talk. It was so much fun to have such wonderful neighbors. Those days were so blessed and so full of life. I will never forget them, never ever. We were just a holler away and if either of us saw the other we would visit. Burn trash together, hunt golf balls, or baseballs. Always making their home a show place. Honestly they seemed to work in that yard every day. Jeanette was always so busy with her work but never too busy to help us when we ask.

My heart goes out to you and thank the Lord you had many many years with them. Love everyone around you and never stop giving them hugs. Love goes your way from the East family. Dan, David, and Terrie.
