Betty Ann Hoelscher, 86, of Osage Bend, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at Adams Street Place.
She was born on September 26, 1926, in Taos, the daughter of the late Herman Joseph and Regina Josephine (Taube) Toebben.
She was united in marriage on October 16, 1945, in Taos, to Leo J. Hoelscher who preceded her in death on June 10, 1977. After her marriage, Betty dedicated her life to raising her nine children with her husband Leo on the family's centennial farm in Osage Bend.
Betty retired in September 1991 after working ten years in the Sales Tax Division of the Missouri Department of Revenue.
She was a member of St. Margaret of Antioch Catholic Church in Osage Bend, St. Margaret Ladies Sodality, and St. Margaret quilting group. Betty loved to make quilts especially for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, and entertaining her family with wonderful meals.
She volunteered and cooked meals at the Friendship Hospice House and for Cursillo.
Survivors include: nine children, Rose Marie (Robert) Verslues, Jefferson City; Bernice (Joe) Bax, Eldon; Leonard (Judy) Hoelscher, Osage Bend; Robert (Debby) Hoelscher, Wardsville; Stanley (Marga) Hoelscher, Jefferson City; Diana (Don) Stegemann, Jefferson City; Delbert (Lori) Hoelscher, Wardsville; Leo Hoelscher, Jr. (friend Joan Kramer), Osage Bend; Darlene (Jeff) Buschjost, Wardsville; fifteen grandchildren, Rob (Leslie) Verslues, Mark (Amy) Verslues, Melissa (Craig) Nichols, Michael (Elizabeth) Bax, Matthew (Sara) Bax, Jennifer Hoelscher (fianc Mike Kopec), Steven (Christy) Hoelscher, Cory (Kelly) Hoelscher, Kelly Haney, Kyle Hoelscher, Cole Hoelscher, Brent (Maggie) Stegemann, Darren Stegemann (fiance Lauren Steinkuehler), Adam Buschjost, Nicole Buschjost; two step-grandchildren, Tanner Reinsch, Tyler (Patricia) Reinsch; 13 great-grandchildren, Lauren Verslues, Lucas Verslues, Thomas Nichols, David Nichols, Jonathan Bax, Allison Bax, Emily Bax, Hadlee Hoelscher, Drew Hoelscher, Camden Hoelscher, Saylor Haney, Jordyn Haney, Gavin Stegemann; two step-great-grandchildren, Hayden Reinsch, Landon Reinsch; and a sister-in-law, Florence Toebben, Vienna.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister-in-law, Raymond and Margaret Toebben; and Ralph Toebben.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013, at St. Margaret of Antioch Catholic Church in Osage Bend with the Rev. I.C. Medina officiating.
Burial will be in St. Margaret Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:15 p.m.
