Alberta Louise Ferguson

Alberta Louise Ferguson, 98, formerly of Jefferson City, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Westview Nursing Home in Center, Missouri. She was born on October 1, 1914, in Clarksville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Isaac and Margaret Fisher Smith. She was married on December 1, 1946, in Jefferson City to Finis L. Ferguson who preceded her on May 5, 1992. Mrs. Ferguson was employed as an elevator operator with Hammond & Ruthvin Family Company and with the Missouri Department of Revenue. She was an active member of the former Dunavant Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church where she served as Deaconess, Stewardess, Trustee, and as Poor Steward for many years. She also sang in the Adult Choir. During the late 1960's she sang with the Eight Gospel Notes. At the time of her death she was an active member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 231 where she was a fifty-year member, past president, and past secretary. Survivors include three nieces, Margaret Smith Porter, Florissant, Missouri; and Mary Waters and Mary Lucille Mooney, both of Kansas City, Missouri; one nephew, Talmitch Anderson, Chicago, Illinois; four great-nieces; several great-great-nieces and nephews; one special daughter, Vanessa Mahaney, Holts Summit, Missouri; and one special son, James Pritchard, St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Malcolm, Arthur, and Leroy Smith. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2013, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with the Rev. James Mahaney officiating. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Ferguson was one of the sweetest ladies I ever knew. She was part of my rearing while attending Dunnavant Chapel AME Zion Church. She was a very loyal member and always made time for her church family and friends. Your family is blessed to have had such an angel

Sorry to hear of your loss. I met Ms. Ferguson when I was a teen. My Aunt and uncle lived across from The church. She was a very impressive lady.

I am sorry to read of your loss. A loved one lost can grieve the heart, and make us yearn for tomorrow, when Jehovah will keep the promise he made of no pain, no death and no sorrow. This promise is found at Revelation 21:4. Can you imagine a time when no one will die? We will not fear death. This means that we will live together forever. What a wonderful prospect we have for the future! I hope this helps you cope and remember to look to Jehovah God and he will help you cope.
