Charles Robert Hartman, 72, of Jefferson City, died Monday, April 16, 2012, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born on October 15, 1939, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Peter Joseph and Lillah Victoria Burks Hartman.
He was united in marriage on June 3, 1961, in Marys Home to Carol Sue Schulte who resides at the home.
Charles was a 1957 graduate of Helias High School and 1962 graduate of Lincoln University with a Bachelors degree in engineering.
Charles was a licensed Professional Engineer working for the Jefferson City Housing Authority and later with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Mens Association, Parish Council, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Dan C. Coppin council, and Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Helias Council 1054. He was a Boy Scout leader, and a volunteer for the Samaritan Center where he served on the Samaritan Center Board. Charles was the Helias Class of 1957 Reunion Chair.
Charles enjoyed collecting antique tools, making wine, gardening, and fishing.
Other survivors include: four children, Yvonne (Marvin) Jansen, Millstadt, Il.; Dr. Bob (Carol) Hartman, OFallon, Mo; Mark (Amy) Hartman, Jefferson City; Lori Hartman, Columbia; ten grandchildren, Delaney Jansen, Henry Jansen, Rachel Jansen, Thomas Jansen, Jennifer Ross, Sarah Katzer, Kyle Hartman, Jacob Hartman, Lindsey Hartman, Taylor Hartman; two great-grandchildren, Owen Katzer and Zachary Katzer; six siblings, James Hartman, St. Martins; Mary (Dewey) McLean, Blacksburg, Va.; Jerome Hartman, Holts Summit; Dorothy Jackson, Russellville; Pete (Lillian) Hartman, Centertown; Helen Polly Prey, St. Martins; sister-in-law, Ethel Hartman, Jefferson City; and a brother-in-law, Ben Luebbering, Lake Ozarks.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Call, Virginia Luebbert, Lucy Luebbering; and a brother, John Hartman.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3 p.m.

  6. I am so sorry to hear of Charlie’s passing. As a consulting engineer I worked with him in his role at MDNR for a number of years. I especially enjoyed his home made wine that he shared at Christmas time. It was a privalege to know him. My condolences on your loss.

  13. Please accept my most heart-felt condolences. Charlie was a dear cousin. He and I sort of grew up together. He and I and Bobby Rice were all cousins of the same age. Charlie and I were corresponding by e-mail over the last few years but I noticed that he was no longer responding. We are in North Carolina and will not be able to attend. I am very sorry for your loss.

  18. I worked with Charlie many, many years at the Department of Natural Resources and just recently was able to visit with him at Adam’s Street Place, he will be missed. My condolences and prayers go out to the family.
