ALVERA ANNA HOLLIDAY

May 24, 1932 ~ April 10, 2011
She was born on May 24, 1932, in St. Elizabeth, the daughter of the late William Joseph and Mary Henrietta Borgmeyer Kirkweg. She also is preceded in death by her step-mother, Rose Brauner Kirkweg.
She was united in marriage May 2, 1953, in St. Elizabeth to Marvin Herbert Holliday, Sr. who preceded her in death on January 27, 2010.
Alvera had been employed with Tweedie Shoe Factory, McGraw Edison, P.N. Hirsch Clothing Store, and with Wal-Mart as a department manager for 20 years retiring in 1992.
She was an original member and faithful attendee of the Cathedral of St. Joseph. Alvera served as a Girl Scout leader and as a 4-H leader. She enjoyed quilting, playing bingo, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Game Show Network, and most especially spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: five children, Vickie Holliday, Mesquite, Tx; Randy (Kathy) Holliday, Jefferson City; Kevin (Cathy) Holliday, Jefferson City; Kathy (Jeff) Wildhaber, Lohman; J.R. (Tina) Holliday, Jefferson City; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and seven siblings, Clarence (Mary Ellen) Kirkweg, Jefferson City; Eleanor Edwards, Jefferson City; Rosalie Hentges, California; Alfred (Mary) Kirkweg, Centertown; Delores (David) Bax, St. Martins; Delphine (Louis) Toebben, Taos; and Joseph Brauner; Jefferson City.
She was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Payton and Hannah Meidell; two sisters, Rita Braun and Alice Patton; and three brothers, Cornie Kirkweg, Norbert Kirkweg, and Walter Brauner.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2011, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Benjamin Nwosu officiating.
Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
Visitation will be 4:30-7 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
