She participated in the life of the church at St. Paul’s in Lohman, Trinity in Topeka, Kansas, and Joy Lutheran in Tulsa, in addition to the above parishes and was involved in quilting, bible study, WELCA, Sunday school, volunteering, and choir. Walter and Helen launched a community garden at Trinity.

Sympathy to entire family. Indeed Aunt Helen was a tremendous of her faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
My deepest sympathies to Rev. Walter, Stephanie, John, and Michelle along with Helen’s extended family. Helen’s smile, sparkle, and energy were unforgettable. Her remarkably noteworthy love of live, creativity, and fun factor set her apart as a pastor’s wife even to a young teen parishioner (in Dannebrog). She was resourceful to stretch a dime; focused on healthy food for the meals by blending everything into spaghetti sauce to trick young picky palates; and creatively determined to stay ahead of an adventurous toddler (Michelle) that loved to climb. 🙂
My mom has a special place in her heart for Helen as they shared their sewing interests and raising similarly aged children.
Surprise lilies will hereafter remind me of Helen’s warm, cheery smile and spirit.
When I think of Helen I remember her smile that made her eyes light up. I have wonderful memories of her, the garden, making cardboard play houses, letting us sleep in the camper and letting Roy and I come over to play. Mom mentioned that Helen and her did some “odd” stuff for Sunday school and bible study – which I took as new fun ideas. I know we have not seen each other for years but you are all in our hearts and we are saddened for your loss. Love Sally
