Marsha Lynn (Thomas) Wyss, 80, of Russellville passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, surrounded by family at home.
Marsha was born February 2, 1945, to Richard Kenneth Thomas and Ethel Mae (Martin) Thomas in California, Missouri and attended California R-1 School until she was 16 years old. In 1958, she met a much older boy named Curtis Wyss and they spent many hours roller skating and courting each other at the California Roller Rink. Marsha and Curtis were still holding hands just as they once did when the Lord called her home.
Marsha was united in marriage on June 11, 1961, at the First Baptist Church in California to Curtis Dell Wyss who survives at the home. Pastor Roy Martin, Marsha’s grandfather, performed the marriage ceremony.
Marsha spent her teenage years working at the Nic Nac Café in California which her parents owned and operated, followed by raising three children. She continued her career at Thomas Ceramic Supplies working for her parents and then co-owning it with her husband. She finished her working career at Russellville Locker and Feed.
Marsha was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville (1966-1977) and later joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church in 1977 where she taught Sunday School, helped children make crafts at vacation bible school, sang in the church choir, and performed special music with Curtis playing a guitar. Some of the songs they did together were songs she wrote. She sang with the Mt. Olive Gospel Singers and the “Ole Tunes” musical group who visited and performed at numerous nursing homes for about 30 years. During her quiet time, she enjoyed reading and studying the Bible.
Marsha’s hobbies included writing in her daily journal, writing poems, singing, painting, finishing ceramic pieces, and collecting angels.
Marsha loved being a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother while making many memories with the family. Through the years, all three children have been known to remanence about the special birthday cakes being made for them, heart shaped hamburgers with heart shaped cheese for Valentine’s Day, dying their food green for St. Patrick’s Day, the abundance of Christmas ‘goodies’ being made and each child had their favorite ones every year, sitting in the living room on Christmas Eve drinking homemade egg nog by candlelight and watching the Christmas candle carousel, and Sunday nights were spent watching The Wonderful World of Disney while eating fondue and drinking root beer floats. When grandchildren came along, Marsha organized and prepared an elaborate Valentine’s Day meal for them until all had graduated high school. Every year was a different theme, and she included their favorite foods and some not so favorite foods on the menu. The grandchildren continued this tradition one last time by planning a Valentine’s dinner in honor of grandma and grandpa similar to those she so wonderfully prepared for them. Later in life, Marsha enjoyed sitting by the campfire with Curtis and enjoying a weenie roast in the backyard.
Marsha is survived by her husband, Curtis, three children, Bradley Wyss (Sandra), Eric Wyss (Crystal), and DeAubra Windsor (James “Lee”) all of Russellville; seven grandchildren, Joshua Wyss (Whitney), Montrose, MN, Kayla Lute (Kyle), Jefferson City, Samantha Stegeman (Cory), Jefferson City, Logan Wyss (Kalie), Holts Summit, Courtney Oppermann, Springfield, Haley Bell (Joshua), Russellville, and Olivia Windsor, Jefferson City; and eight great-grandchildren, Naomi Wyss, Micah Wyss, Hudson Lute, Palmer Stegeman, Payton Stegeman, Emilia Wyss, Eli Bell, and Eliana Bell.
Marsha was proceeded in death by her parents and one sister, Tana Rutledge, California.

Gary and I are so very sorry to hear of Marsha’s passing. She was a sweet, kind, dear lady who had a beautiful voice. We loved to hear the two of you sing together! She will always be remembered as a sweet, beautiful lady with an angelic voice. We loved her, and we love you too Curt. May God comfort you and keep you close in your sorrow. In love and friendship…
Thank you, Gary and Judi
Thank you, Sherry.
Please accept our deepest condolences in the loss of your mother.
May you find all of her memories comforting.
Prayers for Curtis and family. Marsha was a great teacher and person. I enjoyed her teaching me the art of creating and painting ceramics. She even helped my mother and I to open and manage our hobby ceramic business in Russellville when Curtis and her ran their business in California. I also enjoyed her musical talents she often shared with the Old Timers group. You’ll be missed. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
So so sorry to hear of Marsha’s passing. Blessings to each of you as you share life’s memories gone by.
