James Edward “Jim” Hollaway, 88, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Jefferson City Manor.

He was born September 22, 1936, in Freeburg, Missouri, the son of George and Christine (Herzing) Hollaway.  Jim was a 1954 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia.

He was united in marriage on October 9, 1965, in Clinton, Missouri to Sandra Lee Wright who survives at the home.

Jim worked for various positions within the financial banking sector including consumer credit division and vice president loan officer.  He also worked for Page & Brown Convention Services in Camdenton.

He was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, Knights of Columbus Bishop McAuliffe Council 12991, Forth Degree Knights of Columbus Dan C. Coppin Assembly 573; and the American Legion Post 5.  Jim enjoyed outdoor activities including gardening, yard work, hunting, and fishing.  He also enjoyed baseball, cooking, listening to music, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Hollaway, Jefferson City; three daughters, Beth Delano, O’Fallon, MO; Lorri (Bob) Taggart, Holts Summit; Kristie (Carl) Johnson, Deerfield, MO; six grandchildren, Kyle (Kassie) Cardwell, Tyler Parton, Nathan Delano; Bailey Taggart, Jeffery (Jessica) Taggart, Jordan (Will) Hale; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Andy Delano; and his brother, Leroy (Marcie) Hollaway.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, VG officiating.

Entombment will be in Resurrection Catholic Mausoleum.

Memorials are suggested to the Cathedral of St. Joseph Foundation, Vitae Foundation, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.

  1. I got to know Jim a little in the last 18 months at JC Manor as I helped lead weekly rosary services there and gave out Holy Communion as well. Jim’s face would light up with a bright smile when he saw me approaching with Holy Communion! I certainly did not know Jim well, but I saw enough to determine that he had such a deep faith and that he was someone who I wished I had the opportunity to know better. May you rest in eternal peace with the Lord, Jim.
