Oscar George Haid, 79, of Hartsburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born on September 13, 1945, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the son of Cletus and Martha “Mattie” (Vaughn) Haid.
He was raised in Cedar City and graduated in 1963 from Jefferson City High School where he played the clarinet in the marching band. The highlight of his high school career was marching in the inauguration parade in Washington D.C. on January 20, 1961, for President John F. Kennedy.
He was united in marriage on November 7, 1970, at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, to June Elizabeth Wolters, who survives at home. They raised two devoted sons, Chris and Clinton.
He farmed for many years and helped his dad with his silo business. When Oscar sold the farm, he went into construction and eventually worked for the City of Jefferson in the street department. He loved this job until he retired.
Oscar enjoyed woodworking, casinos, and he loved having his family at their home to swim and barbeque.
Survivors include his wife, June of fifty-four years; two sons, Christopher Haid and Clinton Haid both of Hartsburg; a brother-in-law, Bob Liddy, Albuquerque, New Mexico; in-laws, Jerilyn Lavinder, Janet and Larry Rademan, Joyce Osborn, Jeanine and Howard Kunz, Joan and Delbert Branson, all of Jefferson City; Jim Wolters, Holts Summit; Jody and John Kimball, Kansas City; many nieces and nephews; and a cousin Clifford “Butch” Haid who he considered a brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jeanette “Jan” Liddy; in-laws, Norbert and Sylvia Wolters; brother-in-law, Ron Lavinder; nephew, Scott Osborn and niece, Sheryl Gillmore.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Trimble Funeral Homes – Jefferson City from 12-2:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service.
Memorials are suggested to Central Missouri Food Bank or to Hospice Compassus.
