Nellie LaVerne Miles, 93, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2024, at her home with her family by her side.

She was born July 5, 1931, near Russellville, Mo. and is the daughter of Harry L. and Nellie (Amos) Proctor.

She was united in marriage on August 12, 1950, to Freddie F. Miles and they shared 4 children.

LaVerne was employed by Mutual of Omaha for 45 years and was the office manager until 1991. She remained in the insurance industry for another 9 years prior to her retirement.

She was a member of Enon Baptist Church where she served as treasurer for several years and participated in WMU activities. She enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren more than anything else. She also spent a lot of time in her flower gardens, sewing, quilting, reading, playing dominos, and sharing time with friends at their Wednesday morning coffee group.

Survivors include her four children, Ronda Miles, Lee’s Summit; Rita (Greg) Murray, Jefferson City; Travis Miles, Jefferson City; Rayma Anderson, Jefferson City; eight grandchildren, Josh (Mandy) Seaver, Adam (Jenifer) Seaver, Andy (Melissa) Seaver, Lacy (TJ) Ralston, Nathan Miles, Tyler (Katy) Miles, Colby (Paige) Anderson, Levi Anderson; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Emmett (Lawanda) Proctor, Russellville; one sister-in-law, Brenda (Tom) Crain, Russellville; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings, Imogene Baysinger, Neva Hogg Smith, Elroy Proctor, Kenneth Proctor, Glendon Proctor, Melvin Proctor; and one sister-in-law, L’Wana Jo Rush.

Visitation will be 5-7p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2024, at Trimble Funeral Homes -Russellville.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Enon Baptist Church with Jared Proctor officiating.

Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery.
