Nile Seth Jones, 85, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, June 23, 2025, at his residence.

He was born April 8, 1940, in Crocker, Missouri, the son of Sylvia Ledbetter Jones and Charles Reber Jones.

He was a graduate of Crocker High School in 1958 and took mechanical engineering coursework at Missouri University Science and Technology.

He was united in marriage in 1964 to Caroline Marie Anderson who survives at the home.

Nile enlisted with the Missouri National Guard in 1963 for a 6-year service term.

Nile worked numerous jobs post high school including working on an oil pipeline for his uncle, Jim Skaggs, and service station and drug store in both Waynesville and Crocker.

Moving to Jefferson City in 1972, he and his wife owned and operated Mid-Missouri Auto Supply (Big-A Auto) for 12 years upon being purchased by O’Reily Auto-Parts.

Nile later taught auto technology at Nichols Career Center for twenty years.  Upon retirement, he and Carol moved to Springfield, MO.

He enjoyed numerous friendships as part of membership at Crossway Baptist Church and the Super Chevy Car Club in Springfield.

Anyone who knew Nile knows what an easy going and gentle person he was.  He could name the make and model of any antique vehicle—even if it was covered up!  He built, deconstructed, painted, buffed, soldered, painted, and shared his joy of putting ’67-72 Chevrolet trucks back into their glory with many people.

He loved guns, shooting, was a World War II history buff, loved NASCAR, KC chiefs, Charles Russell paintings, was an insatiable lifelong learner, and a beloved teacher.
