Robert (Bob) Francis Muenks, 87, Jefferson City, MO, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, in-law, and friend who was always willing to help, and never met a stranger. He passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Capital Region Medical Center.
Bob was born on May 4, 1938; the fourth of six children and a twin in Cadet Creek, Missouri near Loose Creek, Missouri. He was the son of the late Norbert and Hilda (Porting) Muenks.
Bob was a 1957 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia, Missouri. He served with the United States Army Air Defense Command from July 1961 to July 1963 receiving commendations of achievement for rifle marksmen, sharpshooter, and a good conduct medal. Bob and Shirley Ann Schepers were united in marriage on April 11, 1964, at St. Peter’s Church in Jefferson City, Missouri. After 61 years of marriage, Shirley continues to reside at the home they built together, twice, due to a house fire in 2007.
After serving in the military, he became a co-owner of Muenks Feed Mill and turkey farm in Loose Creek, Missouri until 1997. Bob was extremely active in sports, hunting, fishing, and family life with a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor. Bob was kind, always willing to help, and adventurous. He was a lifetime sports enthusiast from playing organized sports in high school to continuing to play a range of sports including basketball, baseball, fast-pitch and slow-pitch softball, golf, and bowling throughout his life. He could frequently be found in the backyard playing ball with Russell, Eric, and Sara. Bob was a baseball coach for Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams for many years. He was a loyal Cardinal’s fan and rarely ever missed listening to a game on the radio or watching on tv.
When Bob was not working or involved with sports, he thoroughly enjoyed going deer and duck hunting on the farm or fishing with family and friends. Great times were spent playing cards with friends or Preference at family gatherings. Camping trips always brought laughter, good times, and canoe floats, especially over 30 years of Muenks Family Reunions. He won the “Muenks Masters” family golf tournament several years entitling him to be the proud yearly owner of the traveling jacket. Camping trips throughout Missouri and the United States following Russell’s baseball career were filled with Muenks style adventures always providing a story to reminisce for decades.
Bob’s memory will continue to live on with the love of his life, their children: Russell (Julie) Muenks, Rockwall, TX; Eric (Kim) Muenks, St. Martins, MO; Sara (Steve) Koenigsfeld, St. Martins, MO; grandchildren: Jarrett Muenks, Nicholas Koenigsfeld, Jessica Koenigsfeld; step grandchildren: Barrett Bowers, Colton Bowers, Layla Cobb, Jamie Gish and Dylan Gish; and three siblings: Edgar (Judith) Muenks, Marybeth Ligibel, David Muenks (Laura Eller Terry); sister-in-law: MaryAnn Muenks; nieces, nephews, and friends.
