Gilbert Joseph Bisges, 83, of Wardsville, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Jefferson City to Joseph Henry and Ludvina Alma (Bode) Bisges.

Gilbert was a 1960 graduate of Fatima High School.

He was united in marriage on September 29, 1962, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg to Mary Loy Dickneite who preceded him in death on April 12, 1993.

He was united in marriage on February 4, 1994, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Wardsville to Genie Louise Vogel Trachsel who survives at the home.

Gilbert served in the United States Army.

A retired farmer, Gilbert, also worked as Assistant Director of Telecommunications for the State of Missouri Employment Security for thirty-four years.

He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus.  He was past president of the board of directors for the Osage Fire Department, Osage Senior Center, and Blair Oaks School Board.

Gilbert loved to farm and fish and could be seen regularly riding his favorite Pioneer Side-by-Side all over the farm.

Survivors include his wife, Genie; seven children, Tim Bisges, California; Laurie (Jim) Bernskoetter, Jefferson City; Denise (Jim) Brentlinger, Wardsville; Dana (Ronnie) Staggs, Wardsville; Jeff (Heather) Bisges, Wardsville; Matt (Gayle) Trachsel, Jefferson City; and Gina (Doug) Kauffman, Honey Creek; twenty-four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and three more on the way; three siblings, Berniece Bisges, Jefferson City; Dennis Bisges, Jefferson City; and Gene (Rosanna) Bisges, Wardsville; and a brother-in-law, John Heckemeyer, Jefferson City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Loy Bisges, a granddaughter, Taylor Bernskoetter; and two sisters, Ruth (Ed) Rosebrough, and Phyllis Heckemeyer.

Visitation will be 4-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:15 p.m. with Father Ignazio Medina officiating.  An additional visitation will be Thursday, 9-10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church prior to Mass.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Father James Finder officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
