Alice Gertrude Westerman

Alice Gertrude Westerman, 92, of Lohman, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025, at her residence.
She was born August 14, 1933, in Westphalia, Missouri, the daughter of Edward Ferdinard and Mary Catherine (Luebbert) Holterman.
Alice graduated from Westphalia High School in 1951 and from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing located in Kansas City, MO in 1953.
On June 27, 1956, in Westphalia, Alice was united in marriage to Cornelius (Cornie) Westerman. After their four sons moved from home, Cornie and Alice built a house near Lohman, MO where they have lived since 1988. Cornie survives at the home.
Alice worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as a pediatric nurse from 1953-1956. Most of her adult life was spent working side by side with her husband with the family furniture restoration business.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter Altar Sodality, St. Peter Quilting Group, St. Michael Quilting Group, Capitol Squares Square Dancing Group, and the Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulcher. Alice loved to restore furniture, go square dancing with Cornie with dresses she made, socialize with her fellow square dancers, work on quilts with the quilting groups and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Cornie Westerman, Lohman; four sons, Bill (Cynthia) Westerman, Wellesley, MA; Jim (De-De) Westerman, Derby, KS; Tom Westerman, Jefferson City; Chris (Carol) Westerman, Kansas City, MO; ten grandchildren, Reed Westerman, Todd Westerman, Scott Westerman, Jessica (Mason) Tyler, Ben (Michelle) Westerman, Luke Westerman, Beth (Koi) Wessel, Anne (Tom) Kaminski, Sara Westerman, Mary (Josh) Mortensen; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn (R.V.) Gatz, Independence, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Clara Boessen Fischer and Betty Stegeman and two brothers, Joe Holterman and Elmer Holterman.
Visitation will be 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, Diocesan Administrator, officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church.
