David A. Skiles, 74, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was born on November 28, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of James Arvil and Nioma Eileen (Bean) Skiles.

He was a 1968 graduate of Roosevelt High School.

David was united in marriage on November 4, 2011, in Jefferson City, to Donna Skiles, who survives of the home.

He retired from Missouri Department of Transportation.

David liked to fish, take camping trips with his family, watch all Missouri sports, especially St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, traveling and loved to BBQ.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Skiles, two daughters, Amie (Jason) Sprague, Conway, Arkansas, Amanda Skiles, Cabot, Arkansas; three step-daughters, Lyndsey (Derek) Strickland, Mexico, MO, Andie (Chris) Sunpter, Moberly, MO, and Allie (Kyle) Fisher, New Bloomfield, MO, four granddaughters, Bailie, Cait, Cali, and Paisleigh; two grandsons, Waylon and Stetson; one sister, Erma (Ross) Terry, and many nieces and nephews. Finally, his beloved dog, Sophie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

  4. Dave could always lighten any situation with his laughter, it didn’t matter what was going on. He was my favorite guy I ever worked with. We had a lot of fun traveling around Missouri. The stories he’d tell about his life growing up always had me rolling. I feel lucky to have known him.

  7. David and I were good friends growing up together in St.Louis.Went to the same church together for several years and played a lot of fast pitch softball.Spent a lot of time at his house with his parents and sister.Sorry for your lost Erma.
