Anna A. Orscheln
October 30, 1931 ~ November 4, 2025
Anna A. Orscheln, 94, of Jefferson City, passed away on Nov. 4, 2025, at Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City, Missouri.
She was born on October 30, 1931, in Loose Creek, Missouri, to Stephen and Christine (Boessen) Niekamp.
She married George Orscheln on June 30, 1948, in Jefferson City. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Anna lived a long and fruitful life never meeting a stranger, just people yet to become friends. Through the years Anna and George had raised a family, toured different parts of Missouri and traveled to several states to visit family members.
Anna worked several jobs through the years to help support her family, including St. Mary’s Hospital, McGraw-Edison Co. and Shopsmith until her retirement. She fondly remembered many of the people she worked with at the various jobs.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City and attended various church functions. She also was a member of the St. Peter Ladies Sodality, the Prayer Angels and the Jefferson City Eagles Club Auxiliary. Throughout her life she was of strong faith.
Anna’s family extends their thanks, appreciation and love to all those around her, especially her neighbors, who filled her life and allowed her into their lives.
She is survived by her loving children, Harry (Kathryn) Orscheln, Washington, Illinois and Joyce (Ray) Catlett, Wentzville, Missouri; by her wonderful grandchildren, Alan Catlett, Wentzville, Missouri; Rick (Jess) Catlett, O’Fallon, Missouri; Nell (Lindsay Hawkins) Orscheln, Greer, South Carolina; Abby (William) Novak, Washington, Illinois; and Andrew Orscheln, Peoria, Illinois; she was very proud of her eight great-grandchildren, Wynne Novak, Beatrice Novak, Mabel Novak, Clementine Novak, Harry Hawkins, Frank Hawkins, Haileigh Catlett and Lillian Catlett; and her sister, Generose Kramel, Jefferson City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Catherine (Adolph) Nilges and Mary (George) Schneider; and brother-in-law, James Kramel.
Special thanks to all the Heisinger Bluffs staff members, especially the care center there, where she was treated with respect and love.
Visitation will be 9-10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 13, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Robert A. Kurwicki, V.G. officiating.
Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers please consider contributions to a favorite charity or St. Peter Catholic Church. Please don’t look at Anna’s passing with sadness, but remember her smile, her kind words and the love she gave so freely to all.
