Elizabeth Catherine Kaiser, 80, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, formerly of Jefferson City, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at John Knox Village surrounded by her family.
She was born on January 12, 1945, in Jefferson City, the daughter of John Harding and Laurine Margeretha (Luecke) Thompson.
Elizabeth graduated from Helias High School in 1963.
On April 16, 1966, at the St. Peter Catholic Church, she married Philip Bernard Kaiser. He preceded her in death on May 27, 1992.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her two children.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.
She was known affectionately as “BeBe” by her family, a name given to her by her first grandson. Betty was also a very animated storyteller-she loved to tell her family and friends stories about growing up on the family farm in Lohman, Missouri, and stories of all her travels with her late husband, Phil. Betty loved playing bridge and canasta with her friends and shopping with her sisters. Her family called her “Social Deluxe” because she loved being with people and attending social events. She made friends easily and never met a stranger.
She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie (Russ) Melchert, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; a son, Paul (Michelle) Kaiser, Leawood, Kansas; four grandchildren, Philip Melchert, Sarah (Lee) Smith, Jacob Kaiser, and Riley (James) La Porta; three siblings, Carole Frank, St. Louis; Patricia Parish, Jefferson City; and Larry (Judy) Thompson, Russellville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip; a brother, Robert (Debbie) Thompson, and a brother-in-law, Jerry Parish.
Visitation will be 9-10:00 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2025, at St. Peter Catholic Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas L. Alber officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Betty was proud of her Catholic education from Helias High School. The family will establish an endowed scholarship for Helias High School students to be given annually. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift made payable to Helias Foundation 1312 Southwest Blvd, Suite 103, Jefferson City, MO 65109, for The Philip and Elizabeth Kaiser Memorial Scholarship.

I didn’t know my cousin very well but, what I do remember are visits during the summer months when I was in grade school. When I was in Osage County, I would spend several days with my cousin, Dolores, in Rich Fountain. It was during these stays that I then would see Betty Kay. I last saw her at my brother Dave’s funeral in 2019. She always seemed to be such a friendly and outgoing person. I am so sorry for her family’s loss. May the light of heaven and Betty Kay shine on all of us.
Sending my condolences to Betty’s family. I have so many fun memories of our time together in Liberal, KS.
There was always so much laughter within our group of friends. It was such a special time and I am thankful for the memories.
