Linda Marie Payne, 65, of Russellville, Missouri passed away Monday, January 19, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born on October 25, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Claude and Evelyn (Westmoreland) Weehunt.

Linda grew up in Kansas City, Missouri receiving her high school diploma from Northeast High School and later earned her Skilled Nursing degree.

Linda utilized her nursing degree to care for individuals in Glennon Place Nursing Home until her tender heart couldn’t manage losing friends that she came to love while caring for them. Finding more joy, Linda worked throughout her career as a food service specialist in various places including department store cafe’s, Arrowhead and Kauffman stadium’s, Kemper Arena and Sprint Headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. Her longest tenure was after she moved to Texas providing nourishment to elementary children with the Arlington Independent School District in Arlington, Texas.

Her passion was raising her children and caring for others along the way. She loved cooking and baking delicious meals and treats, decorating cakes, gardening, swimming, fishing, running track, shopping for deals, crafting, drawing, the holidays, singing and dancing along with classic, country and pop songs, as well as going to concerts and sports games.

She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer (Danny) Scroggins, Trophy Club, Texas; and Lisa Payne, Russellville, Missouri; a son, Christopher Payne, Irving, Texas; five grandchildren, Kevin Scroggins, Nicholas Scroggins, Parker Scroggins, Adriana Payne, Sophia Payne; and four siblings, Dennis Weehunt, Russellville, Missouri; Joyce (Jim) Biggs-Wager, Stover, Missouri; Sherri (Tom) Brooks, Kansas City, Missouri; and Lori (Jake) Sanders, Kansas City, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Bob Biggs and sister-in-law Elaine Weehunt.

Visitation will be 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Trimble Funeral Homes – Jefferson City. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Chaplain Eddie Schoeneberg officiating.

Burial will be in the Enloe Cemetery in Russellville.

Memorials are suggested to the Arlington Independent School District.
