James Edward “Jim” Eynard, 93, of Jefferson City, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Jim was born on April 8, 1932, in Chamois, Missouri, the son of James John and Clara Elizabeth (Baumgartner) Eynard.

A 1950 graduate of Loose Creek High School, Jim received his Mortuary Science Degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College.

He was married on May 12, 1956, at St. Peter Catholic Church to Agnes Catherine Stiefermann who preceded him in death on October 24, 2021.

His career spanned over forty-five years working as an embalmer and funeral director with Sylvester Dulle and later with Ralph and Rosie Dulle at Dulle Funeral Home.  When the funeral home was sold on July 1, 1995, Jim worked part-time with Kent and Christine Trimble at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

He was a long-time member of St. Peter Catholic Church and later the Cathedral of St. Joseph, St. Peter Holy Name Society, and the Dan C. Coppin Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.

As a commercial fisherman, Jim sold his fish privately and to grocery stores.  Jim and Bill Backes held the Missouri state record for the largest sturgeon fish which was on exhibit for several years at the Missouri State Fair Aquarium.  He also loved to trap with his longtime friend, Bill Backes of Osage City.  They trapped racoon, fox, mink, muskrat, and otter and Jim stretched his own hides before selling them to a tannery.

He is survived by three children, Darrell (Patti) Eynard, Wardsville; Eric (Loree) Eynard, Russellville; and Gail Ann (Keith) Jeffries, New Bloomfield; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren, and twin siblings, Wayne (Cathy) Eynard, Bonnots Mill; and Wanda (Ron) Walker, Taos.

He was preceded in death by wife, Agnes, a son, Dale Eynard, a brother, Raphael Eynard, and a sister, Juanita (Pete) Donehue.

Visitation will be 9:00-10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen W. Jones officiating.
