James Grant Garrison
October 14, 1949 ~ March 5, 2026
James Grant Garrison, 76, of Holts Summit, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026.
He was born October 14, 1949, in Independence, Missouri, the son of the late Grant McKey and Dororthy Dean (Jackson) Garrison.
James served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.
After his honorable discharge from the Army, James worked for Union Pacific Railroad from 1971 till his retirement in 2015. He worked as a Brakeman and Conductor.
James liked to keep to a regular routine that included reading the newspaper daily, workouts at the YMCA, eating at Oscar’s Classic Diner, and the occasional trip to the casino.
Survivors include his brother, Charles Garrison, Lakewood, CO; a nephew, Troy (LuAnn) Garrison, Lees Summit, MO; a great niece, Kristy (Ali) Robinson; one great-great niece and three great-great nephews; and three cousins, Gary Stewart, Laura Stewart, and John Stewart.
Military honors and interment will be held 3 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. A celebration gathering will follow from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday at the Multipli Credit Union Community Room, 501 Broadway Street, Jefferson City.

Long ago memories of Jim. I brought him home to JC when he was discharged from the Army at Ft. Hood, TX. His sense of humor was off the chain. So sorry to hear you’re gone.
