Dorothy Lorene Simpson, 92, of Jefferson City, formerly of Eldon, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at StoneBridge Senior Living–Oak Tree Villa.
She was born on August 18, 1933, in Weiner, Arkansas, the daughter of William Henry and Fern (Truitt) Scott.
She was united in marriage to Rev. Walter Duane Simpson in 1954 in Weiner, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on October 17, 2013.
A graduate of Weiner High School, Dorothy earned her degree from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma.
Dorothy was a homemaker and assisted her husband with his church ministries. In earlier years, she was a real estate agent.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Eldon.
Much of her married life centered around helping in the different churches her husband served. She was involved in quilting clubs, organizing and serving lunches and dinners, setting up daycare centers and programs involving children. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, painting, and taking long walks. She cherished her time with her husband traveling around the country and being involved with her grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Dane Simpson, Darcie Simpson (fiancé Ronald Johnson) and Gionni Simpson all of Jefferson City; one great-grandchild, Haven Johnson; two sisters, Lucille (Frank) Foster and Lelah Reid; and nieces, Rebecca (Larry) Brooks, and Debra Jordan, all of Weiner, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; an infant daughter, Kim Simpson; a daughter, LuAnn Simpson and her husband, Timothy Joseph White, Jr.; a brother, James “Booster” Scott; and a brother-in-law, Robert Reid.
Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the First Christian Church in Eldon, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Foglesong officiating.
Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church in Eldon.
