PFC Wilbert G. Linsenbardt
June 17, 1915 ~ December 5, 1942
US Army PFC Wilbert G. Linsenbardt, 27, of Lohman, Missouri, died December 5, 1942, in New Guinea, while leading an attack against heavily defended Japanese positions, and was instantly killed by enemy fire.
Mr. Linsenbardt was born June 17, 1915, in Lohman, Missouri, where he was raised and educated.
Mr. Linsenbardt was married November 8, 1941, to Louise Marie Schubert of Osage Bluff, Missouri. He was called to duty two months later.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife and baby daughter, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William J. (Mathilda) Linsenbardt, of Lohman; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby (Ralph) Huettenmeyer; Mrs. Nadine (Harold) Fischer; Mrs. Alice (Wayne) Walquist; Mrs. Mabel (Jim) Henderson; and one brother, Harold (Marie) Linsenbardt who was serving with the U.S. Navy, (all now deceased).
He is survived by his daughter, Wilberta Lou Wright, of Virginia; two grandchildren, John R. Wright, II, of San Diego, CA; and Regan Wright (Peter) Minners and their two children of Fleming Island, FL.
On April 30, 2025, his remains were accounted for by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency. PFC Linsenbardt’s remains will be flown home to Missouri on Friday, May 29, 2026.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2026, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lohman, Missouri. Graveside service and military honors will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
