Marilyn Sue Holtmeyer, 74, of Taos, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded in prayer by her loving family.

She was born on August 12, 1951, in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of Albert and Rosemary (Kraus) Wibberg.

A graduate of Jefferson City High School, Marilyn dedicated her career to public service, working for the Missouri Division of Employment Security until her retirement in 2008.

On November 6, 1992, she was united in marriage to Joseph Holtmeyer at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, who survives of the home. She was previously married to Stephen Hencey.

Marilyn’s greatest joy was found in the people she loved. She found happiness in supporting those around her and celebrating their lives. Whether she was tending to her beautiful garden, picking flowers, putting on dance parties with her grandchildren, traveling, or simply listening with her compassionate heart, she made everyone around her feel deeply loved. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and selfless love were evident in everything she did. She leaves behind not only cherished memories, but an example of grace, humility, and unconditional love that her family will carry with them forever.

Marilyn was a devout member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and served faithfully on the bereavement committee. She had a passion for youth development, serving as a 4-H Club leader and later the 4-H Foundation Board. A certified Master Gardener, Marilyn found great peace outdoors and truly loved tending to her garden and flowers.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; four children, Stefanie Hencey, Lisa (Brian) Forck, Brandon (Alissa) Hencey, Megan (Austin) Loehner; four step-children, Scott Holtmeyer, Jeremy Holtmeyer, Wesley Holtmeyer, and Christopher Holtmeyer; nine grandchildren, Chase, Maia, Kaelin, Emma, Chelsi, Jaemin, Ethan, Langston and Sutton; seven step grandchildren, Chloe, Kobe, Carson, Boone, Bentley, Paityn and Beckett; siblings, Robert (Kathy) Wibberg, Margaret (Christopher) Forck, Rita (Daniel) Schwartze, and Donna (Douglas) Sandbothe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, Teresa Kauffman, and Bernard Wibberg; and one grandson, Cole Forck.
