May 29, 1924 ~ June 22, 2026
Jolene Marie Vogt, 102 years young, of St. Louis, Missouri passed into God’s loving hands Monday, June 22, 2026.
She was born on May 29, 1924, in St. Louis, the daughter of Cecil and Alva Gladish.
Jolene was united in marriage to Wayne Arnold Wachter, her high school sweetheart, at Christ Church Cathedral in St. Louis. After his passing at fifty years of age, she found love once more and married Leonard F. Vogt of Town and Country, Missouri. They enjoyed many years sharing adventures and loving experiences with family and friends.
Her early adult years after graduation from Southwest High School in St. Louis, were dedicated to continuing education and a strong work ethic. She attended Margaret Hickey Secretarial School after marrying Wayne once he returned from the service. They settled for two years in Chicago while he attended Optometric School, and she worked as a teletype operator at the 3rd Army Headquarters and a secretary at Link Belt Machinery Company. Once they moved back home to St. Louis, she assisted her husband as his receptionist at his optometry office in Normandy, Missouri
St. Louis was Jolene’s home for ninety-five years and she loved and embraced its culture, theater, opera, its beautiful parks and restaurants.
Jolene was a loving wife, dedicated mother to three children and a devoted grandma to two grandsons. She would be the first one to help a friend, bring people together for any occasion to enjoy her cooking and warm conversation, and was always a festive planner of family holiday fun!
Jolene didn’t know how to grow old. She enjoyed a vibrant life traveling worldwide with her husbands and family. Spending time on Florida beaches, finding and studying interesting landmarks and going on many nature walks through Missouri parks were on the top of her “go-to” list.
The St. Louis Cardinals provided great joy that continued into her golden years. Her unique stories from memory kept her vibrant through her life into her 100’s and were enjoyed by many at the retirement facilities. She embraced each adventure in a new senior living community, residing in four through her later years.
“Joyful Jolene”, as her friends called her brought so much happiness to others. She was genuine, humble, prayerful and kind. She will be remembered as a “Classy Talbots” kind of lady, a supportive and good listener, and a best friend providing unending love and support to many. Her life journey was long, and she will be missed greatly!
