Mary Louise Schwartz

Mary Louise Schwartz, 86, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City.

She was born May 27, 1940, in Pilot Grove, Missouri, the daughter of Wilbur Edward and Marie Lucille (Stoecklein) Brummel.

She was united in marriage on December 26, 1966, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Boonville to Charles Thomas Schwartz who preceded her in death on December 31, 2009.

In her earlier years, Mary worked for the Shoe Factory in Boonville and Kemper Military Academy.  Following her marriage to Charles, Mary was a loving and caring homemaker.

She was a former member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Boonville, a current member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Versailles, and a member of the Daughter’s of Isabella.  Mary enjoyed bird watching, sewing and crocheting, gardening, baking desserts which she won ribbons for at the State Fair, following politics, and was a wonderful artist.

Survivors include her four children, Thomas Schwartz, Lawrence, KS; Sr. Marie Francesca, Irondale, AL; David Schwartz, Boonville, MO; Karen (Jerry) McClain, Versailles, MO; two grandsons, Luke McClain, Cody McClain; and her sibling, Sr. Regina Ann Brummel, Concordia, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Francis Brummel and John Brummel.

Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2026, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Boonville.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Schmitz officiating.  Burial will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Casa Maria Retreat House, Kidwell Home, or St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church.
