Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. remembering Vivian with a smile…she always had a wicked sense of humor
….our JCHS Class of 1966’s official remembrance will appear on the memories timeline

  2. Eilene,
Your light will continue to glow in the lives of the many you touched with love and music.
    “Bobby”

  3. Viv, you were one of my very first friends in life. I’ll always cherish that friendship, and never forget you.

  4. Vivian was always one of my favorite classmates in Jeff City, starting from our time in grade school at Thorpe Gordon—along with Della Dameron, June White and Jo Nina Irwin—through junior high at Simonsen and high school at JCHS. She was always smart, funny and had a sometimes biting wit that kept us all honest and on our toes. She will always be remembered fondly—she was a very nice and kind person who will be missed.

  5. Vivian Jones, I will truly miss you, your encouragement and your wisdom. Thank you for the talks you’ve had with me. I love you still, and forever.

  6. I remember a soror with an outsized personality, open, welcoming & curious. Remembering the lovely conversation we had, I can only regret the distance that prevented me from knowing you better.

  7. May the family be assured that Irene is in the master’s hand. I am reminded of the year 1966, the year I met Lucius and Vivian and their daughter, Eilene, a few months later. It was both our freshmen years at our colleges of choice, Lincoln and Morgan State. The beauty of precious parents, who enriched my life and my family’s life in Memphis, manifested also in their daughter, Eileen. She was a combination of grit, gratitude, and grace. Our families were sealed forever. She grew into this amazing mentor vessel affecting young musicians and educators. Like her parents, her influence penetrated generations. Eileen sacrificed, and led irregardless of her own or her students’ challenges. She was brilliant, bold, and giving. To know the essence of her influence is to know the effect of her parents. She will be missed, but her influence will live on with many more generations. Rest in Peace. Soror , Jacqueline Jones Ragland
