Alfred John Lueckenhoff, 98, of Jefferson City, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, after a short stay at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Missouri.
Alfred was born February 24, 1927, in St. Elizabeth, to Frank B. and Sophia M. (Brenneke) Lueckenhoff.
Alfred was united in marriage on May 24, 1952, to Nordelle Angeline Sanning at Our Lady of Snow Catholic Church in Mary’s Home. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2024, after almost 72 wonderful years of marriage.
Alfred attended St. Elizabeth High School until serving his country during WWII in the United States Air Corp. He was stationed at Tachikawa Airbase in Tokyo, Japan, as an airplane mechanic. After serving his country, Alfred earned a Master of Automotive Technician diploma from The National Trade School in Kansas City. While attending school, he took dance lessons which came in handy when he met Nordelle at a dance in her hometown.
Alfred’s profession became refrigeration and appliance repair when he started working at Sanning’s Appliance for his brother-in-law. In 1980, Alfred co-founded Central Appliance Service in Jefferson City with Nordelle and successfully served central Missouri. His son Darrell later joined the family business until Alfred’s retirement.
Alfred was very adept and knowledgeable at keeping everything running for many years, which his family appreciated. Alfred and his wife looked forward every year to their RV trip to deer hunt with their sons. Fishing, river boating, taxidermy and a weekly coffee group were some of his favorite pastimes; he was also an avid wildlife observer.
After retirement, Alfred and Nordelle continued their love of dance by joining the Capital City Squares. They held leadership positions, danced locally, and traveled to national dance conferences. They even square danced with a club in Germany while visiting Darlene. They also took up round dancing and danced several nights a week for many of their golden years. As a couple, they enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. in their RV with the Capital City Wings RV Club and occasionally wintered in Mesa, Arizona. Alfred was a member of Immaculate Conception Church where he and Nordelle served as Eucharistic Ministers for many years. He also belonged to the VFW and Knights of Columbus.
Alfred is survived by four children, Dale Lueckenhoff, Holts Summit, Darlene Rice, Cincinnati, Ohio, Diane Schnieders, Wardsville and Danny (Anne) Lueckenhoff, Ft. Worth, TX; eleven grandchildren, Christopher Lueckenhoff, John Michael (Erica) Rice, Stefanie McIntyre, BJ, Dawn and Jonathan Schnieders, Amanda Lueckenhoff, and Joseph, Sara, Jessica and Alexis Lueckenhoff; four great-grandchildren, Madison Schnieders, Charley McIntyre, River Michael Rice and Jett Schnieders; and one brother, Jim (Betty) Lueckenhoff, St. Elizabeth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Darrell Lueckenhoff; siblings, Joe Lueckenhoff, Marie Dwight, Martina Morff, Herman Lueckenhoff, Genevieve Kimball, Martha Sanning, Alma Blomberg and Robert Lueckenhoff.
