Allan Herman Porting, 80, of St. Martins, passed away on his 58th wedding anniversary to his wife Shirley, Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake St. Louis. He was born October 22, 1935, in Loose Creek, the son of the late Herbert and Gertrude Conradine (Muenks) Porting. He was united in marriage on May 31, 1958, in St. Martins to Shirley Jane Pirner who survives at the home. Allan worked for the 1035th Maintenance Battalion with the Missouri Army National Guard from March 9, 1954 till his retirement on October 22, 1995. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins. In his spare time, Allan enjoyed cutting grass, watching humming birds, finding something to stay busy, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Porting, St. Martins; five children, Allan J. Porting (special friend Ruth Redel), Russellville; Steve (Karla) Porting, Brighton, IL; David (Linda) Porting, Cuba, MO; Kenneth (Julie) Porting, Jefferson City; Susan (Ryan) Brookins, St. Martins; 20 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sylvia Roling, Loose Creek; Karen (Jim) Call, Jefferson City; and three in-laws, Albert Jansen, Jean Porting, and Carol Porting, all of Bonnots Mill. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Arthur (Catherine) Porting, Charles Porting, Richard Porting; a sister, Grace Jansen; and a brother-in-law, Bill Roling. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martins with the Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, 1 Hospital Drive, Columbia, MO 65212.
