Aloysius Louis Luebbering

Aloysius “Al” Louis Luebbering, 74, of Centertown, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021, at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born November 12, 1946, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Lawrence Bernard and Hedwig “Haddie” Gertrude (Suthoff) Luebbering, Sr.
A 1964 graduate of Helias High School, Al received his accounting degree from Lincoln University and was a veteran of the United States National Guard.
He was united in marriage on September 25, 1971, in Jefferson City to Joan “Joanie” Lillian Schellmann who resides at the home.
He worked for the Missouri Public Service Commission before serving as the Plant Manager at Cole County Industries for almost 40 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Council #2149.
Al was a true Mr. Fix-it. If you showed him a problem he’d say “give me a minute”, look it over, and get to work on a creative and practical solution. He was an impromptu mechanic, carpenter, engineer, whatever you needed, especially if he could do anything to help a family member. Al and his wife enjoyed collecting well-worn antiques and reviving them back into working condition or ingeniously repurposing them into a new use. A true country boy, he enjoyed spending as much time as possible out on his rural property, especially if he could do so with his children and grandchildren. He spent countless hours with family around the fire pit, exploring the trails he made, and walking the gravel road. Al was not one to sit still. He was a doer, a worker, a maker, a ‘drop-everything-to-help-you-if-he-could’-er. His signature ride was a red F150 pickup and he loved the simple pleasures of “iced coffee” (Diet Coke) and “blue yummies” (Busch Light). Whether an old friend or a total stranger, he treated all with kindness and generosity. He was a man of few words, but endless patience, with a twinkle in his eye and a dimpled smile that revealed his knack for good-natured mischief.
Survivors include his wife, Joanie; three children, Nicole “Nikki” (David “Dave”) Galczynski, Farmington; Justin (Kari) Luebbering, Leawood, Kansas; and Candice Luebbering (Greg Osburn), Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren, Kayla Galczynski, Trent Galczynski, Annabelle Luebbering, Victoria Luebbering, and Evelyn Luebbering; four brothers, Ben (Amy) Luebbering, Jefferson City; Richard Luebbering, Jefferson City; Larry (Mary Jane) Luebbering, Jefferson City; and Andy (Pat) Luebbering, St. Thomas; six sisters, Lorraine Luebbering, St. Thomas; Mary Ann (Robert) Reinhardt, Jefferson City; Agnes "Aggie" Scott, Holts Summit; Flora (Stanley) Stafford, Tebbetts; Rose (Mike) Mertens, Wardsville; and Alice (Kenny) Wolters, Holts Summit; and a sister-in-law, Lynn Luebbering, Jefferson City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Norbert Luebbering; a sister-in-law, Lucy (Hartman) Luebbering; and three brothers-in-law, Ray Luebbering, Gary Scott, and Francis Ewers.
Private family services will be held at a later date.

We have a farm at the end of Little Moniteau Creek Rd. Always saw Al out working on his land or strolling the gravel road. Always had a smile and was a joy to talk too. Would see him and Joanie sitting out around the firepit and stop for a quick chat. They allowed us to cut hay on their ground the last couple years. What great folks. This was a shock to hear. Al and Joanie were great neighbors for several years we have missed them since they moved, hopefully Al had a few good years at the farm. He was always ready with a friendly word and there to help when needed. Rest in peace Al you deserve it! Bernard & Donna Groner
