Anna Elizabeth Rackers, 84, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Adams Street Place.
She was born on January 13, 1928, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late William W. and Annie E. Vetter Winge.
She was united in marriage on May 3, 1945, in Jefferson City, to Arthur H. Rackers who preceded her in death on May 14, 1994.
Mrs. Rackers received her education at St. Peter Parochial School. A wonderful homemaker, she was a member of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, enjoyed gardening, and especially enjoyed her family.
Survivors include: five children, Jane (Bob Ahsens) Rackers, Jefferson City; Brenda (Rado) Popp, Jefferson City; Richard (Rita) Rackers, St. Louis; Charles (Connie) Rackers, Jefferson City; and Steve Rackers, Jefferson City; eleven grandchildren, Chad (Carrie) Rackers, Neil (Rachel) Rackers, Anne Rackers, Gabriel Rackers, Kim (Victor) Panchot, Gina (Nate) Rackers, Betsy Rackers, Kyle Rackers, Nicki (Aaron) Russell, Kelly (Pete) Whisnant, and Bob Ahsens; nine great-grandchildren, Brendan Rackers, Jacob Rackers, Annabelle Rackers, Zoe Panchot, Isabella Rackers, Garrett Russell, Claire Russell, Courtney Russell, and John Ahsens; one brother, Joe (Esther) Winge, Jefferson City; one sister-in-law, Corky Rackers, Jefferson City; and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Eiken, Centertown, Mo.; and Harold Raithel, St. Martin, Mo.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jacob Popp; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Leo and Emma Rackers; two sisters, Florence (Leroy) Renn; and Angeline (Joe) Pirner; and seven sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Blanche and Al Herx; Mabel and Clarence Wilbers; Clete Rackers; JoAnn Eiken; and Aggie Raithel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Rev. Nicholas Reid, officiating.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 3rd, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 p.m.

  3. To Brenda Rackers Popp:I wanted to tell you that nearly every time I visited my mom during the 4 1/2 years she was at Westbrook, I had a conversation with your mom. What a wonderful lady she was, and I remember her telling me how saddened she was when you lost your son; she also told me that she still missed her sisters. I believe your mom is now in Heaven with your son,her sisters, and also with my dad, my brother and my mom.May you feel at peace during this very trying period of your life.

I’m sure a lot of you don’t know me, but I used to do your mother’s hair.I enjoyed your mother so much she was such a joy to be around she always brightened up my day with her laughter and sweet smile.When I stayed with her after she got out of the hospital from her stroke we had such a good time at night talking about the old days.She showed me many pictures of all of you and was so proud of all of her family. She was truly a great lady and I will always remember her and her sweet disposition.Sorry that I was unable to attend her wake and funeral but my prayers and thoughts are with all of you.Sharon Gentges
