Betty Louise Castrop, 84, of Wardsville, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Aliso Viejo, California.

She was born November 18, 1940, in St. Thomas, Missouri, the daughter of Emil John and Rose Ann (Schmidt) Loethen.

She was a 1958 graduate of Helias High School.

On October 5, 1963, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Henry Gerhard Castrop who preceded her in death on June 9, 2022.

Betty worked for over 30 years for Blair Oaks High School in Wardsville. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn (Dean) Jaramillo, Aliso Viejo, CA; Lora McCutchen, University City, MO; and one granddaughter, Reagan McCutchen, New York City, NY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and sister, Lorene Lueckenhoff; and a brother, Leonard Loethen.

Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Msgr. David D. Cox, officiating.

Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Westphalia.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
