Carl Leon Medley, 85, of Jefferson City, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Primrose Retirement Community.
He was born to parents, Ernest “Funny” Carl and Roberta Leah (Miller) Medley on February 25, 1940, in Eminence, Missouri. He had nine siblings.
He was a graduate of Eminence High School and served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965.
On November 5, 1960, he married Jackie Powell, and they moved to Jefferson City in 1970, where their son, Carl Leon Medley, II was born in 1972.
He worked for the Department of Conservation as a Construction Superintendent for thirty years and made many lifelong friends and is fondly remembered by many for his sense of humor.
Carl is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Jackie of Jefferson City; and a son, Carl and his wife Susanne of Las Vegas, NV; his sisters, Mary Dyer, Eminence, MO; and Romona Ryno, Licking, MO; his brother, Robert and his wife Vicky Hurt Medley, Mountain View, MO; a sister-in-law, Gaylon Knight Medley, Cato, NY; and a host of nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Alta; and four brothers, Gordon, Lendell, Joe, and Lloyd Gale who passed as an infant.
A celebration gathering will be held at Primrose Retirement Community, (1214 Freedom Blvd., Jefferson City, MO 65109) on Friday, May 23, 2025. Friends and family are welcome to arrive starting at 1:30 p.m. There will be a short service at 2 p.m. The gathering will conclude outside of Primrose at 3 p.m. with a Military Honor presentation.
Those wishing to send a gift are encouraged to send indoor plants that can be enjoyed by the residents of Primrose. Monetary donations in memory of Carl are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

We were so sorry to learn of Carl’s passing. We haven’t seen him since COVID, I don’t believe. We have a houseful of company and won’t be able to make the service but we will be with you in thought and spirit. Carl, come by the house before you leave if you have time.
