Charles Dennis Fitzpatrick

Charles Dennis Fitzpatrick, 76, of Killeen, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
A devoted husband to Kathleen, loving father, and proud grandfather, Charles was born on April 18, 1949, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Thomas and Hermina Fitzpatrick. He graduated from Eugene Cole R-5 High School in 1967 and went on to earn a degree in Business from Lincoln University in 1971.
Charles began his lifelong career in the Moving and Storage industry under the mentorship of Curt Coy with Allied Van Lines. Over more than 50 years—as a driver, distributor, and Sales Manager—he distinguished himself with dedication and professionalism, ultimately retiring from Ward North American in 2019. His commitment to excellence earned him numerous national sales awards.
A proud and faithful member of the Knights of Columbus, Charles served in several roles, including Treasurer and Grand Knight. He lived fully by the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism, serving his parish and community with humility and devotion. His passion for helping others was evident in the many years he spent leading an annual holiday food drive that supported families throughout the greater Killeen, Texas area.
Charles will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering acceptance of others. He cherished his faith and family, loved cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Oklahoma Sooners, and found great joy in traveling abroad to reconnect with his Irish heritage.
Charles married Lucille Chmelir in 1971, and together they raised three children: Curtis, Christopher, and Cindy. In 1999, he married Kathleen Baty of Copperas Cove, Texas, with whom he shared 26 loving years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Hermina; his daughter, Angela Fitzpatrick; and his sister, Shirley Harrison.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his children Curtis Fitzpatrick and wife Stephanie (Oklahoma City, OK), Christopher Fitzpatrick (Arvada, CO), and Cindy Chmelir (Frisco, TX); their mother, Lucille Fitzpatrick (Oklahoma City, OK); and his grandchildren, Kaylie and Conor Fitzpatrick.
He is also survived by his siblings Carolyn Harrison and husband Paul (Wichita, KS), Linda King and husband Mike (Columbia), Sharon Miller and husband Mike (Wardsville), Danny Fitzpatrick (Wardsville) and wife Carol-deceased, Larry Fitzpatrick (Wardsville), Dennis Fitzpatrick and wife Doris (Wardsville), and brother-in-law Steve Harrison (Boise, ID).
Funeral services were held December 6 in Harker Heights, Texas. Burial services will take place Friday, December 12th, at 4:00 p.m. at Saint Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Wardsville with the Rev. James Finder officiating. A reception will follow in the Knights of Columbus Hall. All are welcome.

I am sorry to hear of Charlie’s passing. I was one of the “Coy Boys” who worked with Charlie in the early days of his career at Coys Moving. I was always impressed with his serious hard-working friendly nature, his intelligence and his ability to solve problems. May he rest in peace.
