Charles S. Carson, 84, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. Louis.
He was born on July 9, 1931, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the son of the late Sylvester and Ruby (Hittson) Carson.
Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was united in marriage in June of 1960 to Wanda Lou Grant who preceded him in death in 1997.
Charles worked as a gasoline truck driver for many years.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and enjoyed motorcycles.
Survivors include six children, Billy (Jean) Carson, Indio, Calif.; Robert (Sandy) Carson, Arkansas; Terry (Vicki) Briggs, O'Fallon, Mo.; Charles (Cynthia) Carson, Maryland; Kimberly (Dale) Neidenbach, Florissant, Mo.; and Dawn (Mike) Bryan, Jefferson City; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Emma (James) Orange, Colo.; Agnus Robertson, Hannibal, Mo.; Marybelle Allen, Hannibal, Mo.; Leland Carson, Hannibal, Mo.; and Harold Carson, Hannibal, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jerome Briggs; an infant brother; and a brother, Robert Carson.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with military rites conducted at 10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
