Clara Catherine Boessen-Fischer, 89, of Holts Summit, died Sunday, November 23, 2014, at Summit Villas in Holts Summit. She was born September 29, 1925, in Westphalia, Missouri, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Libbert) Holterman. She was united in marriage on September 3, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia to Raymond J. Boessen who preceded her in death on January 7, 1971. On July 12, 1996, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit she married Norman W.O. Fischer who preceded her in death on October 16, 2010. Clara worked for Oberman's Manufacturing, Popp's Lawn and Garden, and Classic Nursery. During her career in the gardening and nursery business she became a Master Gardener. She was a charter member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit, and was a member of the Ladies Sodality and the Parish Council. She was a member of the Tebbets Riverside Homemaker Extension Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Callaway County Women's Land Owners Association. She was an active election poll worker and was a Busy Valley 4-H leader. She enjoyed quilting, traveling, card playing, fishing, playing the harmonica and accordion. She especially loved her family and grandchildren. Survivors include: five children, Judy (Gene) Schneider, Jefferson City; Roy (Sandy) Boessen, Holts Summit; JoAnn (Terry) Stock, Holts Summit; David (Arlene) Boessen, Holts Summit; Geri (Doyle) Russell, Holts Summit; three step-children, Joy (Roger) Alberts, Holts Summit; Noel (Betty) Fischer, Jefferson City; Miriam (Darryl) Egley, Spring, TX; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice (Cornelius) Westerman, Lohman; Betty Lou Stegeman, Folk; Marilyn (RV) Gatz, Independence, MO; and three sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Holterman, Westphalia; Dorothy Boessen, Jefferson City; and Alma Boessen, Westphalia. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Joseph Holterman and Elmer Holterman. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit with the Rev. Msgr. Gregory L. Higley officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Andrew Catholic Church, 400 St. Andrew Dr., Holts Summit, MO 65043; or to Helias Foundation, 1106 Swifts Highway, Jefferson City, MO 65109.   8. So sorry to hear about your mom. She was a special lady! I especially remember quilting at St. Andrew’s with her. I took my girls when they were little and Clara would encourage them to quilt. We were all lucky to have her in our lives.
