Corine Flick, 93, formerly of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Villa St. Francis Care Center in Olathe, Kansas.
She was born January 17, 1921, in St. Elizabeth, the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Boeckman) Huhman. She was united in marriage on May 21, 1946, in St. Elizabeth, to Joseph A. Flick, Sr., who preceded her in death on November 28, 2008. Corine was an extremely gifted women of many domestic crafts. She was a talented seamstress, an accomplished quilter, a creator of fine braided woolen rugs and an extraordinary cook. She was active in parish volunteer work at St. Peter Catholic Church and later Immaculate Conception Catholic Church as well as the Samaritan Center in Jefferson City. She was a truly kind and gentle person who was devoted to God, her faith and her family. She will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her three children, Jane (Don) Distler, Leawood, Kansas; Thomas (Amy) Flick, Edmond, Oklahoma; Joseph (Sharon) Flick, II, Independence, Missouri; as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Clara Rowan, Kansas City, Missouri. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Otto (Rose) Huhman, George (Edna) Huhman, Henry (Marie) Huhman, Herman (Pauline) Huhman, William (Margaret) Huhman, Lawrence (Mary) Huhman, and Norbert Huhman; and two sisters, Wilhelmina Hammann and Emma (Herman) Doerhoff. Sincerest condolences to the Flick family. Corine was a great Holly Drive neighbor and wonderful woman. She will be deeply missed.
Corinne was a wonderful woman. She was very kind, gentle, and caring. We thank God for the opportunity of getting to know her. Her daughter Jane is a very kind-hearted human being who treated us like family. We both took care of Corinne at Villa St. Francis and she was one of our favorite residents and we will miss her dearly. Jane, thank you so much for all of your words of encouragement, all of your kind gestures, and all of the thoughtful things you did for the staff and residents at Villa St. Francis. You are one of the most caring and selfless people we have ever had the opportunity of meeting. Your mom was very lucky to have you as a daughter. We know you are going to miss her dearly, and we will all miss her too. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. We will never forget you and your family. Thank you very much for everything. May God continue to bless and protect you and your family.
