I want to express my deepest sympathy to David’s family and friends. While growing up in Hope, MO, David and I were best friends. We spent hours playing, imagining, creating and exploring. We even created and presented an evening of entertainment for the entire community at the Hope School. The money we collected went to a children’s home in Grundy, Virginia. Looking back, I realize that those experiences gave us confidence in front of groups and helped us develop leadership skills that would be invaluable in our professional careers. I am grateful for our friendship and join in celebrating David’s life. Grace and peace …Don Hilkerbaumer

David was a person of Service and Friendship throughout his Life. His Public Governmental positions exemplified leadership skills and a brilliant mind finding resolutions to problems while inspiring many others to higher achievement levels. David will be remembered for his gifts of counsel and assistance to those needing help. He loved his Family and Community and will be very missed. I was fortunate to know him from LHS days (Linn) and in the Halls of the MO State Capitol Bldg (Governor Kit Bond and beyond) where often we’d pass/have brief exchanges. I extend sincere condolences to Doris and his entire Family.

I am very sorry for your loss. My memories of Dave go back over 50 years. We attended Central Missouri State University together and shared most meals together in the dining hall in our residence center for several years. He was one of our “group of 6” and we enjoyed each other’s company. Even though we have not seen each other for years, just the mention of his name brings a smile to my face. Dave was a groomsman in our wedding in August of 1970. May he Rest In Peace. Don Erhardt

With deepest sympathy to all of Dave’s family. Dave and I became friends at Linn High School and this continued through college and professional life. Even during college Dave’s dedication and work ethic was astounding. For instance in the summer of 1968 Dave and I handed out campaign literature in a small community in Osage County. Dave noted before we started that the candidate would probably only receive a vote or two from that town. Dave still insisted we work all afternoon going door to door in the summer heat. The candidate ended up getting one vote – but Dave was not upset – just satisfied that we did our job. This work ethic combined with his integrity and ability to communicate served Dave well throughout his life. Our friendship over the years was priceless. I am grateful for our friendship and join in the celebration of Dave’s life. Thoughts and prayers – Terry and Billie Sue Lytton
David’s energy, enthusiasm and creativity made work less stressful and more joyful in our capitol years working together. I hope you will find comfort in knowing that David was admired by many. My sympathy and prayers go out to you and your family during this time of sadness.
Doris-Tammy and I offer our deepest condolences to you and the family. I have so many wonderful memories of Dave and my introduction to political campaigning and governance going back to May of 1980. Thinking of you and keeping you in our prayers.
I am saddened to hear of David’s death. Dave was one of the first people to welcome my family to Jefferson City in 1971. He and my husband,Jake Wolf were working together on the Bond campaign at the time. They became friends and enjoyed working together. They had many laughs and I loved hearing their stories. I remember Dave’s marvelous humor and warm sunny disposition. He was so young and enthusiastic. Thinking of you and your family.
Doris and family, just learned of David’s passing this evening. Remembering all the campaigns and toils of the 1st Bond years in the 70s. Above it all and for decades afterward, Dave was the epitome of a loyal public servant. A model for these times! SAILING AWAY, From the peaceful port I watch a ship As it sets out to sea. It spreads it’s sails and sniffs the breeze And slips away from me. I watch the fading image shrink, As it moves on and on, Until at last it’s but a speck, Then someone says “It’s gone!” Gone where? Gone only from our sight, And from our farewell cries; On a journey somewhere to reappear, To other’s eager eyes! Beyond the dim horizon’s rim Resound the welcome horns and drums, And while we’re crying “There he goes!” They’re shouting “Here he comes!” We’re sure to cruise for but a while Upon life’s trackless sea, Until one day, we sail away, To serene infinity.
Doris, I just learned of David’s passing!!! So sorry! David and I rode the school bus together for all our grade school years and through high school! He was a very close friend! I am so saddened by his passing! We were 1966 graduates of Linn High School! Always loved seeing him at class reunions!! Again, condolences to family !!! friend all of those years and a
