We are sorry to hear about Doug’s passing. He’s way to young. He and Bob really had some good times!!! Especially the good old days at D&R Plants. Doug was such a big part of the building of that business. Richard thought highly of Doug and considered him instrumental in the success of D&R. We will miss his always smiling face. Condolences to Jackie and family. – Bob Call and Alice Longfellow

Jackie – A prayer for you and your family.
Dear Lord, You alone are the Comforter. Please provide a season of comfort in the midst of deep sadness, to the hearts that are hurting. Hold them, Father. Please wrap your loving arms around them so that they know they are not alone. You are the One who brings peace. We need you, Lord. Please cover the hurt with Your faithful and peaceful presence, Jesus. In your name we pray, Amen. I continue to pray for you .

A lot of hard work and good times were shared with Doug. The very late nights at D&R Plants with Bob Call, Ranger Rick, C-Man, Tom-Com, Darren Goans, David Hees, and many others will be remembered forever. A lot of story telling and a little beer consumption took place in the little office between houses 3 and 4. Doug was one of the most loyal and hardest working persons I have ever known, and also one of the toughest. In recent years our paths would often cross at HyVee and Doug always had a smile and a warm greeting. I have lost a long-time friend, but God has reclaimed his soul. We will miss Doug and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
I’m so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. My family (Charles & Louise Baker) and I moved next door to the Berry’s in 1964. I remember Doug as such a nice young man, a serious athlete, and avid hunter. Even though I haven’t lived in California for many years, visiting Mother and Daddy always brought back the fond memories of the neighborhood and all of us kids growing up there. My condolences to his wife and to Craig and his family.
I as well am so sorry to here of Dougs passing. There at a lot of memories of Doug at the greenhouses at D& R . The transplanting in house # 3 from the seedlings with RIchard and the trans planters Gloria, Irene, Sherry and my mom Virginia and MANY MANY more.Dorothy the record book keeper. Unloading the BLUE CHEVY TRUCKS in front of the 8 greenhouses on the ground ( before we had racks). The break times with all the desserts from the girls. The meals from Richard and Dorothy with refreshments. The Grand Prix with a little aluminum in the floorboard and back seat , wow those were the days. Then later on with Derv the tradition continued. He was a great friend, Tom McGill
So sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. Remembering some good times together!! Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. May God Bless and Keep you and your family in his loving arms.
Oh my, what memories are flooding my mind with the comments from Tom, Derv and Alice. Yes, what good times we had at D&R. I found some pictures of our “Roots” day just recently. We probably couldn’t pull that off today. Doug was always friendly, even tempered, and working hard along side Bob. Those guys could load a truck, including the cab, faster than anyone and everything would be in place. However, driving with the cab that full probably wasn’t legal, but I always made it around my route safely and usually sold out. Great times!!!
I was shocked to hear of Doug’s passing. Yes he was way too young. So many of our co-workers from D&R have passed. Some that come to mind: Richard and Dorothy (best bosses I’ve ever had. Thanks, Richard for all those Pizza Hut lunches us girls would decide to take and then you, Dorothy and the guys would show up and you would foot the bill.), Gloria, (what a card), (my hubby), Paul, Gerald and Lilly Rimel, Laurel Ann Fulks, Mary Sanders, Virginia McGill, and a couple other drivers whose names I can’t pull up right now and now our beloved Doug Berry.
I’m so sorry I can’t make the services today. Please know I send my deepest sympathy to Jacque and Craig and their families, my prayers are with you.

We measure lives not in time, but in grace, in the joy with which they lived, and in the love they leave behind. It was a joy to know Doug and he will be missed in my heart. May GOD wrap His arms around each of you and give you comfort and peace.
With deepest sympathy, I write these few words for my friends Craig and Sonja. Craig, I wish you peace and comfort in your lifetime of memories of your brother. May this Easter season provide you a time of refreshment and reconciliation and a period of grace in memory of your brother. With every best wish, Sam Richardson.
